Minor Suggestion: Give pilots strafe animations! (NT)

Commando

I would personally like to see this added too, even if it isn't a default option.  The pilots look a little funny when they strafe because they just slide while standing straight up.  Ken would be the person to ask though.  I brought this up before 1.2 was even released and it was GSH, I think, that explained to me that this wasn't included because the bz2 team was understaffed and they weren't given enough time to add this.

Slaor

Even just using the run animation for it would be better than the slide.

Angstromicus

Can the strafe animation be done so that the pilot's leg don't plunge into the ground as it moves it to the side?

Edit: Meaning it's strafing up a hill.

Tempest Storm

Wouldn't you rather just HAVE it, rather than making it even harder to implement?

Dirty Rooster

So ... who's going to do it?
Someone versed in animations I hope,
or we could get a sliding,
"I need the loo" dash for convenience.

While on this topic, notice how the running
animation covers ground faster then the
foot movement. The oversized boots appear
to slide further than they should.
A solution to this minor aesthetic glitch
would simply be to speed up the running animation.

Fishbone

Pilot animations are complicated to modify. Nobody has ever succeeded in doing it, as far as I know.

Well the least that can be done would be rocket boosters on the legs, that would emit smoke and fire whenever the pilot strafed.

That would look hilarious, and rediculous.

Tempest Storm

I don't see a problem with just using the run animation, its better than nothing...and atleast we have the code to use strafe animations for custom pilots too.

Arcane

Well, if the guys working on it are able to do stuff like so, I want to be able to have my pilot light up a cigar and have a cold one.

Would look better using rocket boosters instead of "The Force"

SkyNET

Actually, the best idea so far is the running animation one.

Would probably be easier than making a new animation.

Stone

Maybe make it to where the legs go in the strafe direction, but the torso remains pointed in the other direction?
