New Walker Unit Needs Animating...

Thanks, I don't know what battlezone is doing with it, might have something to do with key frames...

Walkers are not that hard (once you know what you are doing).
Others would merely say it was good humour.

OK, I just love bad news.. God someone kill me!

Only kidding... Anyway. WHY DID I BUMP THIS......

Well..... I have a good reason.

The walker that this post is all about is still not working, and I need anyone's help to make it finally work.

I have included all I have on this walker and this pice of..... Well anyway.... the walker will not walk, turn, and just likes to bunny hop all over the place. From what I can gather all other animations work a jem... Warfreak who was kind to make most of the animations work was unable to correct and now I am passing it to anyone who might be able to fix it.

So, I am asking for anyone that can work with this model to get it to walk, run and turn successfully....

It animates but it does not move.

I think the dummy_root is NOT used to determine if the unit is on the ground in a walker.
Your walker appears to hover just above the ground, I cannot see why it is doing it, but the bottom of the feet should not go below the ground level (0) like they seem to in threed.


OK I got it walking!
I just set geometryscale = 1
He is rather short and not scary now though!
The model needs to be built very accuratly or to scale, bottom of the feet exactly on the ground.

The unit was done VERY small on my end, I'm guessing that was never how Shane intended it, and I could never fully find which Pieces the Engine gives a default to. (Ex: Head, Lfoot & Rfoot)

When I made my spider walker I had to put the main _body axis at ground level, otherwise it sunk to wherever it was. I don't fully understand why, the isdf walker does not need that and neither did the other one I made, walkers are a bit weird.

Umm, I donno what you lot had done, but the walker worked fine but it just likes to bunny hop all over the map. It's down to the animation. and animation needs to be re-done.

I just loaded it up, It could not move. It had geometryscale = 15, so I set it to 1 and it then it started walking again.
I guess the inaccuracy's got scaled up too so its feet were no longer close enough to the ground to work.

Unfortulently, the unit needs to be a scale of 15 for the map... So it will need to be fixed ;)

Ummmm LARDY DAR DAR DAR.....

Sorry just that type of night.... OK....

From what I can gather, I am not too sure the size is the problem.....

The death animation works perfectly all of them. also the animation where the walker sits down works all fine too....with the geometryscale as it is. Only the walking, turning, running and maybe the Idle animation is not working properly. I did notice how ever that the animation frames or lines in the xsi files are very few compared to the death, and sitdown animation, like there are not many keyframes and the game is skipping a few or something, it does look odd in the xsi file...

Anyway, I like the death animation and also the sitdown... If no one can solve this, I will have to bodge it with the constructor animation and it will be the basic crap... and probably not work properly anyway, like the other walking units I have.

ALSO... NOTE....

For all the 3D Max mad people out there, I have found the original zip that Warfreak gave me and have posted it, it wil have all the Max files needed to edit this Model...... Link below.

Well, Just letting everyone know that this walker is now closed.

I will have to see if I can bodge something together at a later date, so if the walker looks, crap, or not right, you all did have your chance.

Many thanks for the help some people tried to help with, I am hugly dissapointed with the lack of help tho. Mayby the walker is just not intresting for people to work on... Well.... Thanks for the people that tried....
