N1 if you could see what requests that program sends and receives from gamespy then you could try and reverse engineer the gamespy master server protocall.

Or you could use gamespy 3D, add every player's ip to the offline server list and it should pick up any games even without the master server.

It wouldn't be impossible or even very difficult to get around gamespy being down, bz2 has been dead for a long time and even if another nail is added to the coffin we can still crowbar ourselves out of of it.

OFC. Klag uses master klagspy server, so he turn it off, no need to run it if GS working fine.

I send him files of data that client and gs comunicate while scaning for games, entering games, ECT..
Then for a while he made "klagspy" tool and was working okey and that was not final product

And there is guy named Klag he make "klagspy" tool that replaces gs for bz2 1.2 maybe 1.3
So we got klagspy, gameranger, join by ip, hamachi, maybe some more tools that i cant recall atm.

The games load for me and they run, but I'm getting worse performance in Battlezone 1 than I remember on the older system, and I'm getting the same on Battlezone II.  Being that I've played BZ 1, I'm not as worried about it.  I would like to be able to play Battlezone II, at least on single player.

Now on to the problem :

In Battlezone II, most notably in the 4th mission I believe(but I could be wrong), the one that comes after your commander piloting a constructor and rebuilding a power supply, I get impressive framerate drops.

In most situations around the base, the framerate is around 25-55 fps, usually staying at 55fps.  However when I go to turn and head towards the direction of the two "hardware" that the superior commander in a carrier wants me to protect and not let the scions steal, my FPS drops to 5fps.  It's so bad that it affects my firing rate, aim, and has gotten me killed in this mission several times when engaging the 2 tug-type enemies and 2 scouts/tanks/whatever that escort them.

I've installed the 1.2 patch, and also the 1.3 PB4 I believe just to check and see if they would help.  It has not been any help at all.  I've tried turning all the graphics down to low/off, and see little/no improvement.
It is hard to believe that this newer system than my old system that ran Battlezone just fine, is struggling to run BZ 1 or BZ 2.  I seriously doubt its a lack of hardware, but more something in the newer software that I'm missing.

I just wondered if someone had any ideas, or should I be looking for an even more powerful system to run these 10 year old games?

Any help would be appreciated, I'm kind of lost as to what to try, possibly emulating win98 with virtual PC or something, but that is slow in its own right.

It definately seems to be related to ships coming in range/firefights,  goign around the base seems to be no lag, but when those 2 tugs/2 support fighters show up and I go intercept them....    instant 55-60 down to 5-12.  Going over there to the exact same spot after I've killed them produces only about a 10fps drop down to 45~.

If you want to play 1.2 you will have abaut 500 fps.(Im having abaut 2000 fps) Better game play, more maps, more mods, and more ppl to play with

You still dont understant. If I want to "justify" my ego i woud ban you at start.
Rules can be chandged to prevent flame wars, making locking topics, and prevent lots of bad stuff, im still doing my jub and lots of ppl believe in my jub, coz im mature and still lots of ppl just cant be admins and modeators. I was admin/controler/moderator from many sites( 4 !!? ). What sites i left clans/sites died, I was sad, but in the end who care for brain suckers as they are.

Get a life, and plz try to get MY point of wiev.

Thats why locking, probably you didnt lock topics in your lifetime at all, coz you didnt found any reasons.
Shure bz2maps, take good cate of guests and users, and ofc spamers. I see nothing wrong as long there is no 1.3 problems.

I was try to play/try 1.3pb4 on it, all new drivers,
for non computer ppls is just fine. That computer instalation of drivers and windows was not for fast games, it was ment for compatibility, usb,msnm,audio,dvd recording, and to try out games, thats why new games can work on low pc, but slow.
I played zst games abaut 120 fps to 40 fps on this old computer for like 2 years. then i get athlon 64, now like more then half year im having core 2 system, is great,
but more great will just abaut to come, and thats not i7 cpu, thats a joke.
Joke just like intel love to make fun out of ppl, by not showing they real progress...(remember pentium series? 75 to 233mhz)

30 euros for pc was a joke, i sell it for poor ppl
and 30 euros thats alot for poor ppl,
but they need good computer.

2000mhz atlon xp thats 2600+

Geforce 6600, with newsest drivers and directX : agp8x with fast writes
512 meg of ram _ ddr 166 thats 333. Timings 2.5 3 3 7
160 gig hdd ata133
and
Windows xp pro sp3 with all extra updates


And game
Bz2.1.3pb4A start with 40 frames per second and drop to 7-6-5-4 fps

Good thing is that i allrdy sell that pc for 30Euros :wink:

Yes OpenGL is great engine.
Maybe convert bz2 to open gl engine with some free tool :) ?

New chips and drivers fading away second generaton of  "3D acceleration" I meant bz2 game.

Now we are seriously using nvidia physx and ati cuda calculator engines (integrated in graphic chips) for games like far cry 2 and medal of honor airborne.

My guess is that even never graphics will stop supporting old code for drawing game graphics and minimum requirement will be game which does run on transform and lightning.

As you may know, some armory weps are missing, but still they are used and found in dm maps.

Some of weapons come with factory olny, but it cant come from armory when factory is up.
