Now you've done it... We're all dead.
What box???

ok, both iedefense and mpidefense are the same map. the bbgtow9.odf is the gun tower in the center and it is preplaced. There is no immediate path point under it. However, it happens sometimes that the dll doesn't find a required path point or vector and just places a new object in the center of the map (coordinates 0,0,0), the statue is at (16,0,16). so dll influence cannot be ruled out, yet

the only common setting in my assets and the statue is this:
buildSupport = B
buildRequire = B

I narrowed the problem down to a dll spawn problem.
I am currently using a turret deploy animation for something completly different. However, this animation is of a drop ship bringing in a harvester. the drop ship travels about 500 m.
All buildings that are in the path of the drop ship (remember, it is not a real vehicle, its a turret deploy animation!) loose their collision box once I remove the drop ship animation. It gets even better: if I turn the orientation of the animation 180 deg., everything works without a hitch.

This is obviously a very DuneC specific problem and I have found the fix I needed. I dont think bz2 was ever intended to do these things. So no wonder its hard.

Now to Greenhearts Defense map: first of all, it can happen on any maps where there are buildings close to the center of the map. I don't have a prove and if somebody finds another reason why it happens, then I am more then happy. But I suspect that some unit spawns over Greenhearts statue and thus removes its collision box. splash damage still damages the building cause it is calculated by hp_com and not collision (as far as I know). Again, this could happen on other maps where buildings are preplaced over spawn path points or the center.
I never had problems to spawn vehicles and infantry inside of buildings, so I would say, spawning turrets and buildings can cause problems.

EDIT: maybe it is the new "no things in things" when built code that tries to push the buildings away but fails and so just removes the collision box?

Spawn

well, the no things in things is oddly shown in shadow race.  with gas plany, you are pushed INTO it, not out (its middle is out of the object, so away from middle is into object).  Statues are odd to me, have light armor (killed by pulse) have a really confusing collision box (sit on top, look down and pulse, bullets go backwards), and you can go under them if they arent perfectly level.

Those Statues are preplaced on the map & nothing should be spawning close enough to the statue since i don't recalling placing any pathpoint  near the statue. The only objects that spawn 2 objects in the same place would be those dang blasted turrets spawning on top of  certain assault towers.   (turrets spawn at certain guntower pathpoints)

Earlier Commando was hosting a game & he discovered one of the enemy mortar towers wasn't taking damage. I doube that the 2 objects spawning on top of each other is causing the bug since certain affected buildings never had a second object spawned in the same location.

Many failures will take place in the process of attempting to achive your goal. It don't matter how many times you fail, Its how much you've learned each time since its apart of the learning process.

well, I guess you didnt read this:

:-)
You get a left handed monkey wrench and tighten the updraft whiffle pins inside the rocket tower.  Then, the only thing that will destroy the rocket tower at that point would be a old VW Bus filled with hippies.

At least it is worth a try  :lol:

Its not the statue that goes invulnerable, at least I have never seen the statue go invulnerable.  It is the middle mortar tower, the  intimidator, that has been problematic for me.  I loaded up MPI Defense a few times and didn't see the mortar towers on the map, I did see statues, so it doesn't look mortar towers are preplaced on the map.

For extra clarity, when I say middle mortar tower, I don't mean in the center of the map.  I mean the mortar tower located in the middle of  the rest of the mortar towers.  It is located  pretty far north, in the enemy base.  I think it is the one located next to the  statue in the base.
